An open concept veterinary ER is a new idea to man

An open concept veterinary ER is a new idea to many in the veterinary field. As a vet, I absolutely love having the owners in the back with me. It’s truly awesome keeping people and their pets together. Added bonus is that owners can see how hard we are working to save their pet’s life.

A lot of the problems that cause veterinary burn out are solved in an open concept ER. People complaining about wait times? Not an issue. People mistrusting your services? Hardly ever happens. Instead, people are almost always impressed by how hard we work and what we are able to accomplish as a team.

Just because we are open concept, doesn’t mean we don’t try to accommodate when people are uncomfortable. Some people can’t handle blood or seeing a code in real life for example. And that’s totally ok! We try to read the room and use exam rooms when needed.

One of my favorite parts of working for @veterinar

One of my favorite parts of working for @veterinary_emergency_group is getting to mentor doctors in emergency medicine. Beyond impressed with how @dogtor_ne has grown over the past few months! There’s nothing like finishing a scope and watching your patient eat food after being sick for days.

So big congrats to @dogtor_ne 🙌🙌 and our patient who got to go home that night after eating 13 tampons total 😅 ladies, keep your trash cans out of your dog’s grasp because these monthly necessities can cause big problems for our favorite animal companions 🐶
